Dear Wannabe Diary,
Seriously, what is going on with these daycare germs?! At this point, I’m half convinced they have some secret lab hidden in the back, brewing up new viruses just to keep parents on their toes. Because, honestly, HOW is there never a break?!
Barely a week ago, we were battling a fever and antibiotics, finally got a few days of normal life, and now? BAM. A rash.
Please, let this be nothing.
Diagnosis: Google or Just Accept My Fate?
I tried to stay calm, but let’s be real, I immediately started overanalyzing every little spot like I’m some kind of dermatology expert.
First, I checked her arms.
🔍 Red spots on both arms. Cool. Not panicking yet.
Then, her face.
🔍 A tiny rash under her eye. Okay, maybe it’s just irritation?
Then, I took a deep breath and checked her back and stomach.
❌ Nothing.
Okay, maybe not so bad.
Then… her diaper area.
🔍 More little spots.
WHY. JUST WHY.
Now, it could be one of two things:
1️⃣ Chickenpox (fingers crossed because at least she’d get it over with)
2️⃣ Hand, foot, and mouth disease (which is currently making rounds in daycare, but she has nothing on her palms or feet… yet)
Either way, I’m mentally preparing for another week (or more) at home.
Because, let’s be honest, at this point we’re just paying for daycare to keep her home.
Adjusting Plans (Because, Of Course)
I had big plans for the weekend—mainly getting ahead on content for next week because, starting Monday, my new content strategy kicks in, and it’s going to require even more work. I was hoping to batch-create a ton of posts, finalize designs, and prep reels, so that I wouldn’t have to stress as much during the week.
But now?
Yeah… that’s not happening.
Instead, today was spent indoors, balancing between checking for new spots every 30 minutes (because apparently, I love stress), getting a little work done, and making sure my toddler wasn’t completely bored out of her mind.
But honestly? At least the weather was trash today, so I don’t feel like we missed out on much.
Small Wins: Hot Dogs & Reality TV Escape
If there was one true win today, it was lunch.
Now, let me just say—I’m not a huge hot dog fan. We never buy regular hot dogs because they just feel too processed, and we try to avoid ultra-processed food as much as possible.
BUT.
Every now and then, we make homemade hot dogs using good-quality chicken sausages, and honestly? They slap. 🤌🔥
I swear, they’re next-level good, and I’m 100% posting the recipe soon—because, yes, food will be a small part of my new content strategy.
After lunch, I decided to do something wild—I actually sat down and watched TV. For fun.
And not just any TV.
I watched two episodes of an old season of The Bachelor.
Now, according to my partner, this is a complete waste of time. 🙄
Him: "How can you watch this? It’s so fake."
Me: "Yeah. That’s the point."
What he doesn’t get is that I literally spend all day thinking, creating, learning, editing, and planning.
So, no—I do not want to watch an educational documentary or listen to a self-improvement podcast when I finally sit down to relax. I want pure, meaningless, brain-off entertainment where I don’t have to think about a single thing.
Because sometimes? That’s exactly what you need.
Final Thoughts: Hoping for the Best (But Expecting the Worst)
So now, we wait.
- Will it be chickenpox?
- Will it be hand, foot, and mouth?
- Will it be something else entirely, because daycare germs love surprises?
Who knows.
But one thing is for sure—I need to mentally prepare for another week of balancing work with a sick toddler at home.
Wish me luck.
