There’s nothing quite like a warm, hearty meal that fills your soul and keeps you coming back for more. This Chicken Paprikash is exactly that—full of deep, rich flavors, yet incredibly easy to make! It’s a family favorite in our home, especially for my 2-year-old, who absolutely devours it every time.
This dish is perfectly balanced—it’s high in protein, packed with nutrient-rich vegetables, and finished off with a creamy texture that makes it irresistible. You can serve it with mashed potatoes, gnocchi, pasta, or even just a slice of fresh bread to soak up that flavorful sauce!
Not only is this meal delicious, but it’s also nutritious. The chicken provides a great source of lean protein, paprika is packed with antioxidants, carrots add a dose of vitamin A, and using Greek yogurt in the mashed potatoes makes them extra creamy without the extra fat.

Ingredients:
For the Chicken Paprikash:
- 300 g (10.5 oz) chicken breast, diced
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 1 yellow bell pepper, diced
- 1 carrot, sliced
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 400 ml (1 ⅔ cups) vegetable broth
- 50 ml (¼ cup) cooking cream (10% fat)
- 1 tbsp spelt flour (or all-purpose flour)
- 1 tsp paprika powder
- Salt & pepper, to taste
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp dried parsley
For the Mashed Potatoes:
- 300 g (10.5 oz) potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1 heaping tbsp Greek yogurt
- Salt, to taste
Instructions:
1️⃣ Sear the Chicken: Heat a pan with olive oil and quickly sear the diced chicken until lightly golden. Remove from the pan and set aside.
2️⃣ Sauté the Vegetables: In the same pan, sauté onions, bell peppers, and carrots for about 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally. If they start sticking, add a little water instead of more oil.
3️⃣ Build the Sauce: Stir in tomato paste, paprika powder, salt, pepper, and parsley. Return the chicken to the pan and pour in the vegetable broth. Let it simmer for 20 minutes, allowing the flavors to develop.
4️⃣ Thicken the Sauce: In a small cup, mix spelt flour with a few tablespoons of water to form a slurry. Pour it into the pan, stirring continuously. Add the cooking cream and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
5️⃣ Prepare the Mashed Potatoes: While the paprikash is simmering, boil the potatoes in salted water until soft. Drain and mash with Greek yogurt until smooth and creamy.
6️⃣ Serve & Enjoy! Spoon the creamy mashed potatoes onto a plate and top with chicken paprikash. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot!
