January 28, 2025 – Today I Wannabe Well-Rested (But Life Said No)

Dear Wannabe Diary,

This morning, I had the rare opportunity to take my daughter to daycare. Normally, my mom does it, but today it was on me, and honestly? It felt nice to get outside early for once. There's something oddly refreshing about stepping into the crisp morning air, pretending I have my life together.

That being said, my night was horrendous. I barely slept because my brain decided it was the perfect time to host a TED Talk on all the things I need to do in life. And once the intrusive thoughts took a break, my daughter took over—whining, tossing, turning, and making bizarre sounds that I can only describe as a demon-possessed kitten. So, yeah… 5 AM rolled around, and I gave up on sleep altogether.

Meditation... or Just Sitting There With My Eyes Closed?

In an effort to salvage the morning, I attempted two back-to-back 20-minute meditation and hypnosis sessions. Sounds relaxing, right? Yeah, no. I was constantly yanked out of my zen mode by my restless child, which meant my “deep spiritual experience” was more like a half-hearted nap with background noise. But hey, at least I tried.

I then moved on to breakfast and some light reading, but honestly? My brain was all over the place. I have way too many ideas, and instead of focusing on one thing, I start thinking about everything at once, which results in me doing... nothing efficiently. Productivity 101: Do the opposite of what I do.

The Great Apple TV Disappointment

Fast forward to the most exciting moment of the day—my packages arrived! And, as every adult knows, nothing beats the dopamine hit of opening new deliveries.

📦 First package: Joe Dispenza books + meditation recordings. Since I loved the ones I borrowed, I figured it was time to get my own copies and go full nerd mode with annotations and highlighting. No complaints there—10/10, would buy again.

📦 Second package: Apple TV Box. Now, this is where things took a turn. My partner and I, being loyal Apple users, thought upgrading from our slow, buffering Android TV box would be a genius move. So, full of anticipation, we unboxed it, set it up, and...

Disappointment. 💀

  • No YouTube Music? Ok, annoying but fine.
  • No local TV streaming apps? Umm, that’s a problem.
  • NO WEB BROWSER?? Excuse me?? How am I supposed to log in to things like a normal human??

Every minute we spent trying to make it work, our excitement plummeted further. I could literally feel my wallet crying as we realized that we’d just spent €160 on something that’s less functional than our old box. The ghost of Steve Jobs was definitely watching us, whispering, “It just works.” Well, Steve... not this time.

So, after an hour of frustration, back in the box it went. And, as if on cue, our old Android box suddenly started working slightly better. Coincidence? Or did it sense its impending doom and decide to behave? We may never know. But hey—at least I saved €160.

Moral of the Story: Excitement is Temporary, Reality is Forever

So, that was my day. Mild productivity, failed tech investments, and the realization that sometimes, what you have is actually good enough. Maybe I should apply that wisdom to more areas of my life.

Will I sleep tonight? Probably not. Will I lie awake wondering if I should give Apple TV another chance? Maybe. But for now, I’ll just enjoy my books and be grateful that at least one of my purchases didn’t betray me.

Until tomorrow,

Me, still stuck in the wannabe phase of life.
